腦震盪工作坊 2020

在2020年年尾，V’air 團隊到了朗屏參加一個腦震盪工作坊，希望能夠以一個新奇有趣的方式探索V’air 來年的發展方向、奠定大體的基礎，同時亦能總結V’air 2020年的工作。不得不提這也是成員們近期難得的見面機會，這個2020年年尾的工作坊，也算是一個另類的年尾派對吧。

私營部⾨如何能夠協助香港在2050年或之前達到淨零碳排放的⽬標

《巴黎協定》旨在與⼯業化前的⽔平相比之下，寄望將全球變暖限制⾄1.5攝⽒度以內。為了實現這項⽬標，全球要在2030年前要將⼆氧化碳排放量減少⾄⼀半，才能作出迅速⽽有效的轉變，以致於2050年或之前達到淨零碳排放。在香港，⾏政總裁林鄭⽉娥亦在2020年施政報告中提到香港要在2050年之前實現淨零碳排放的決⼼。

顯⽽易⾒，我們正⾯對環境和公共衛⽣的兩⼤危機。在環境⽅⾯，我們已經可以親⾝體驗氣候變化， 例如⽬前香港已看到記錄以來最熱的三⽉。但是，環境危機遠不⽌於此。⼈類活動正威脅著地球的健康， 並且已發展到出現⼤規模森林砍伐、⽣物多樣性減少和海洋酸化的情況。

政策研究小組向環保署提交意見書 （塑膠飲料容器生產者責任計劃公眾諮詢）

環保署早前發佈了「塑膠飲料容器生產者責任計劃公眾諮詢文件」，要求飲料製造商、進口商、零售商、市民等相關持份者須分擔收集、處理、循環再造及妥善處置廢棄產品的責任。

Swedish model shows Hong Kong how to engage youth on climate change

The Hong Kong government set a net zero carbon emissions target for 2050 in Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor’s 2020 policy address. As far back as in May 2018, the Council for Sustainable Development initiated a citywide public engagement to enhance awareness regarding the impact of carbon emissions and create a conducive atmosphere for a long-term low-emission strategy. However, it is notable that direct youth engagement has been neither sufficient nor efficient, because of the fragmentation of youth platforms.

Hong Kong’s Lunar New Year flower markets: don’t leave waste to the NGOs

Hong Kong hosted at least 15 Lunar New Year flower markets this year. Their celebratory intent notwithstanding, these markets generated 83 tonnes of waste in total, including bamboo sticks, unsold or wilted flowers, wooden pallets, and styrofoam. The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said that most materials can be recycled. But before turning to recycling, what could have been done?

How plastic bottle recycling can become second nature for Hongkongers

In preparation for the Producer Responsibility Scheme on Plastic Beverage Containers, Hong Kong’s Environmental Protection Department has launched a one-year reverse vending machine pilot scheme. Installed in phases, the 60 machines will offer an instant rebate of 10 HK cents (1 US cent) per plastic bottle via e-payment, with the recycled bottles to be transformed into marketable material. The first 40 machines came into operation in January.

Hong Kong zero-carbon 2050 vision: time to talk details for peak energy efficiency

In its 2021-2022 budget, the Hong Kong government announced that it would reserve HK$1 billion (US$129 million) for installing renewable energy systems. After Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor announced Hong Kong’s aim for carbon neutrality by 2050, the city has been considering plans to import zero-carbon electricity and increase local renewable energy production. Yet, discussions on how to manage increased renewable energy in the fuel mix are often neglected.
